To note : The designer campaigns for women and planned parenthood, put into danger by Donald Trump, by selling a “Feminists” t-shirt and donating a part of the profits to this organization.Interview Jonathan Simkhai : It’s such a fun time, NY fashion week is such a great time, especially for NY so much buzz in the streets all the creative people come out, you really think about your outfits and you get excited to present your collection. This season I was really thinking about the women in my life and how I want them to be strong and powerful and different ideas and combos of what they want to wear and what makes them feel confident and beautiful and strong and just all those ideas and a lot of references to different ornamentation, ceilings in the cathedrals…The mixture of having things that feel hard and soft is very much what this collection is about, tough strong leathers, but then leather ruffles, and this one is leather but it’s gathered with ruffles with the gun metals and the lace up details here, it’s all that mixed together. It’s just feminist ‘AF’, which is “as fuck” it’s important for women’s strength and choice for women to make decisions for themselves, it’s very important especially now with everything that’s going on, and I just want to continue to give women strength through every possibility.
